The Clifton Scientific Trust was arose in its present form out of the experience of Dr Eric Albone bringing his experience as a research scientist from a career in scientific research into school teaching in Clifton College in the 1980s.  In Clifton College Dr Albone instituted the first Scientist in Residence scheme in recent times and with Royal Society support engaged them in a series of research projects including one derived from his own research in the field of mammalian semiochemistry.  The success of the project, which the students exhibited at the Royal Society Soirée in London in 1986 convinced us of the great value in enabling students to experience the world of real life science and engineering for themselves.
